✎Review✎ Fujifilm Instax Mini 8

I wanted this camera for quite a long time, but I kept waiting for it to become a bit cheaper before buying it. While I was on vacation in Lithuania I decided to look if the shops sold the camera and they did - they sold it cheaper than in the Netherlands! Of course I couldn't leave it there so I bought it!

Want to know more about the camera and what I think of it? Continue reading!
Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera is an instant camera, which means you'll get your picture as a polaroid just a few seconds after you take it. Awesome, isn't it?

This is how the front of the camera looks like. The cameras are available in the following colours:

  • White
  • Black
  • Pink
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Raspberry (new)
  • Grape (new)

So what about the specifications of this beauty?

As you can see the camera contains a constant firing flash. That means you can't shut it off manually and that can be quite annoying. The first time I tried my camera I was in a cat cafe and scared the crap out of the cats with my flash. Oops!

So what about the picture quality? It really depends on the circumstances, I guess. If you take a picture outside in a good light, the pictures look really good. But if you take pictures at night, they aren't as great, obviously.

Taking pictures inside can be tricky as well. Here I have a picture of my boyfriend and his huuuuge 50 cm pizza taken inside a restaurant, with lights a bit dimmed:

There is an option that should make your pictures become lighter. It's called Hi-key. I haven't tried that one out yet, but I will try it out soon once I have an opportunity. The opinions on Hi-key option also differ: some people like it, while others think the picture becomes over-exposed after using it. That's also one of the reasons why I haven't tried it yet - I don't like over-exposed pictures, but I know some people do, so it's all about your own preferences.

So what do I think about the camera?
It's great as long as you use it in a good light. Also I love the fact that I have my polaroid just a few seconds after taking the picture. I love using the insta-polaroids in my travel journal (the polaroid in this article is also from my travel book), because I can write something in it and add a photo to it right after.
I also love the design of the camera and the fact that it comes in seven different colours.

What do you think of instant cameras? Do you own one? Would you like one? Why (not)? Share your opinion with me in the comments!
