Less = more: music

Less = more. Isn't it? I'm talking about music now. Less popular songs can be really good sometimes. In this article I'd like to share some music with you that you can't find at top 100 best songs of the moment, or just songs that we probably have forgotten by now.

I love discovering new bands and falling in love with them. I love listening to music that other people don't even know it exists. I'm not saying I'm not listening to the "mainstream" music, but the "unusual" music gives me satisfaction, because when I find a good, unpopular song, it really makes me happy.

Apart from that there are some bands I really love and want to share with the world. These bands aren't known by everyone, even thought I think they should be. So here are some bands and songs I love:

Black Veil Brides

These guys get better and better with every album they make. In 2013 I went to see them live and they were amazing. The song above is called Goodbye Agony, and it's from their newest album Black Veil Brides IV. BVB actually have many good songs, so check the other ones out, too!

Skillet have many beautiful songs, all pretty different: some are fast and "harder", while others are soft and slow. I'm sure there's at least one song for everyone. Yours to Hold is one of my favorite songs, along with Lucy. I love the lyrics of this one.

You're going through so much
But I know that I could be the one to hold you

Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold

Mayday Parade

This is the memory
This is the curse of having
Too much time to think about it
It's killing me
This is the last time
This is my forgiveness
This is endless

Mayday Parade, just like Skillet, have many different songs. If you don't like this one, check some others. My favorite ones are: Terrible Things and Stay. They also have made a good cover of Somebody I Used To Know.

Tonight Alive

I’m burning up, I’m burning up
I don’t know the girl in the mirror now
I’m burning up, I’m burning up,
Well I’m burning up

So I look to the world outside oh
All of a sudden, I’m eating my insides
The tiny words that break your heart,
They’re breaking and entering

This is a song gives me energy, just like other quick rock songs. I love this one a lot! They remind me a lot of Paramore. So if you like Paramore - you'll probably like them too! Other songs of Tonight alive worth listening to are Wasting Away and Listening.

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.)

D.R.U.G.S. are more "hard". They scream every once in a while, so some people might not like them. I'm used to listening heavy metal, so D.R.U.G.S. are still quite soft for me. What I love about this song and about I'm the Rehab, You're the Drugs, is that they're fast and give me energy and I just love it.

Now I'd like to share with you some songs from other bands that I don't listen that much. So I will only be talking about that one particular song, not the band.

All That Remains - What If I Was Nothing

What if I was nothing? What if this is true?
What if I was nothing, girl, nothing without you
So what if I was angry, what did you think I'd do?
I told you that I love you, girl, I'm nothing without you

I heard this song for the first time while driving with my boyfriend. His brother's CD was still in the car and when I heard this song, I just had to know what it was. So when I found it, I just kept listening to it, over and over again.

Slipknot - Snuff

I'm not a big fan of Slipknot, but I love this song, because it's one of the few slow and a bit more normal songs of them. I love it, I love the sound of the guitar, I love the voice of the singer and I love the lyrics. Definitely worth listening!

Stone Sour - Through Glass

I'm looking at you through the glass
Don't know how much time has passed
Oh God it feels like forever
But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home
Sitting all alone inside your head

Feels like you've heard this voice before? Yes, you're right. The singer of Slipknot and the singer of Stone Sour is the same guy - Corey Taylor. I need to say - I like his voice when he's not screaming.

Nightwish - Last Ride Of The Day

My boyfriend is crazy about Nightwish, but I don't like the band at all. To me, the singer is the most important person in a band, because I like singing and I love lyrics. Nightwish has soprano singers singing, and I simply don't like symphonic music and I never get what they sing. This is one of the few songs of Nightwish, that I actually like, because it contains less symphonic singing. Funny fact: the newest singer of Nightwish, Floor Jansen, is dutch.

Sanna Nielsen - Undo

I heard this song a few days before Eurovision Song Contest, and I fell in love with it. This song, sung by Sanna Nielsen, was Sweden's song for ESC and it's one of the few ESC songs I really love. I love Sanna's voice, I love the lyrics and it just sounds so emotional. I love it.

Undo my sad
Undo what hurts so bad
Undo my pain
Gonna get out, through the rain
I know that I am over you
At last I know what I should do
Undo my sad

Ese Peters - Omote

Don’t you know
That I’d trade the world for you
Just to see you smile
And have all that you wish for in life
I would walk, run, pull down every door in your way

And if you fall
Oh I will pick you up
And if you cry
I will dry every tear in your eyes
Cos you’re the sweetest thing I know

I heard this song when I was in Portugal and had to shazam it immediately. I listened to this song my whole vacation and I still listen to it. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Especially the lyrics are so beautiful! You definitely have to listen to it!

And that's it for this article. I know many more bands/songs that are less popular, but still worth listening to. So if you'd like - I could make a sequence to this article.

Did you know these songs/bands? Do you like any of them? Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
